253 Mon 31/12/01 19:38 Whilst at Redbridge Hill, we were called to AFA operating at a country house, on the south side of Lyndhurst. The gas was isolated, and the house was ventilated. Stop: A/C by operation of CO detector.

218 Sun 11/11/01 18:55 Just as we arrived back on station, and were doing the paper work from the previous shout, another call came in, this time to an AFA at a business premises, on Deerleap lane. Stop; A/C by electrical fault

217 Sun 11/11/01 13:02 Explosion, Eling wharf area. On arrival found a scene resembling a war zone. Some welding equipment stored in a transport container had exploded, destroying the container and flinging the metal of the structure to the four winds. Several very large pieces had been flung a considerable distance, including one piece through the roof of an adjoining building. Several cylinders were still on the ground, and had to be cooled. HFRS will be on site for at least 24 hours from original time of call, simply cooling the cylinders, and will then investigate the cause of the explosion.

212 Wed 07/11/01 23:59 Domestic AFA at a block of council flats in Totton. As we booked mobile we were informed by control that this was fire, persons reported! On arrival found two pumps already there ( Both Redbridge pumps had beaten us to the scene, as they had enjoyed a clear run, and had been told persons reported shortly after we had been tipped out) One person was out of the flat, and laid on the ground outside. A small fire in the bathroom, was already out. Stop: Small fire OOA, all persons accounted for.

211 Wed 07/11/01 19:54 Strong smell of burning, near to Totton Tar Works. Stop: Controlled burning, near by!

210 Mon 05/11/01 01:38 RTA Washdown. A single vehicle RTA on Jacobs Gutter Lane. The Police where very interested in taking all the details, as well as many photographs before the vehicle was recovered. As there was very little we could actually do, we ended up going home! Stop:SSCC.

209 Sun 04/11/01 01:12 AFA at a factory unit on the Calmore Industrial Estate. Police had noticed an internal alarm at the factory unit, and so called us out. Unfortunately, as there was no access, and no keyholders listed, we were unable to gain access to check it out. Stop: A/C by (assumed) electrical fault.

208 Thu 01/11/01 20:02 incomplete call by a child, stating fire at a private house, in Old Shirley. A small child playing with the phone had dialed 999. It then appears that her sister said the word fire work. As soon as the emergency operator hears any suggestion of the word fire, we are informed. However on this occasion, it was thought that this was a false call, so only one pump was dispatched. Stop: FAM, child playing with the phone.

207 Thu 01/11/01 19:44 AFA Southampton General Hospital. Two AFA's had been sounded, and two pumps were dispatched to each one. We had the second one, and attended with St. Marys ladder, who arrived, and put a stop back on the incident before we arrived on the scene. We turned round, and headed home but did not get into Totton, as we were diverted, by radio, to the call above.

206 Sun 28/10/01 21:38 Fire in a field, near to Calmore Junior School. A small fire in the middle of a kiddies play area, consisting of carboard and some wood from the fence. The fire was mostly kicked out, by the time the knapsack pump had been filled with water, and arrived on scene. Stop: small fire rubbish.

205 Thu 25/10/01 10:13 Stand by Redbridge Hill fire Station. Numerous Anthrax scares had emptied the cities fire stations, as well as some outlying areas. No further calls.

204 Tue 23/10/01 16:57 RTA Trapped, at an address to the North of Totton. A car in a ditch with an injured driver, following a head on collision. The roof was cut from the car to provide greater access so we could get a "long-board" in to remove the casualty without causing further trauma to the neck and spine. Stop: One male casualty released by HRFS.

203 Mon 22/10/01 21:33 RTA Trapped, at an address in Southampton. There seemed to be some confusion over the address. When this was cleared up we were returned to station by control, leaving the job to those from the Southampton Central Fire Station.

202 Sun 21/10/01 06:24 Fire towards the rear of a commercial premises, Ringwood Road Totton. A storage outbuilding to the rear of a shop had apparently been broken into and set on fire, a small fire involving animal bedding was in progress. a forced entry had to be made before the fire could be dealt with. The key holder was called, so the rest of the building could be checked for fire spread, only smoke logging was found. Stop: Small fire 1 HPHR 2 BA

201 Mon 15/10/01 18:48 Traffic lights on fire, Salisbury Road, Totton. Temporary traffic lights in place, but no signs of fire. Stop: A/C by smell from unknown source.

200 Sat 13/10/01 10:57 Fire in fish and chip shop in Ashurst, on route t the event we were told that the building was well alight, by a member of the brigade who happened to pass the incident as the initial call went in. On arrival we found smoke issuing, but the building was not well alight. An entry was made to the rear of the premises, and we made our way to the front of the shop, where we found the fire in a preparation area away from the cooking range. The fire seemed to involve stored paper, and food. The fire was dealt with using 1 HPHR, whilst the second crew made a forced entry to the front of the shop, and made their way in to meet us. Stop; fire in shop premises, 2 HPHR 6 BA.

199 Fri 12/10/01 17:30 RTA washdown on the A326, West Totton Bypass. Stop: RTA, no persons trapped, scene made safe.

198 Wed 10/10/01 00:00 Shed on fire, at a housing association address in Totton. ( We have been to this particular address before!) A small fire consisting of some paper on the floor of the shed, which had spread to the fabric of the shed itself. 1 HPHR was used to extinguish. Police in attendance who took someone away from the scene to help them with their inquiries! Stop: Small fire shed 1 HPHR

197 Sat 06/10/01 16:45 RTA Trapped, Water Lane Totton. An RTA involving a head on collision between a small bus, and a Transit Hire Vehicle. No persons trapped, but the new Transit caused us some entertainment. In order to make the vehicle safe we needed to disconnect the battery, but we had to find it first! The battery was not in the engine compartment, so we started to look in the passenger compartment, it was not there either, so we started to look in the rear of the van, however, getting in through the doors proved entertaining, as there are no external door locks. When we finally broke in to the rear of the van, we found that paint had been upset by the impact and was splattered all over the place, including dripping off most of the roof! We eventually located the battery under the drivers seat, and disconnected the electrical supply. Stop: SSCC.

196 Mon 01/10/01 01:00 AFA at a rest home in central Totton, ( actually the same one as shout number 192) This was another false alarm, this time caused by water in detector head, where a resident had left a tap running, and flooded an upstairs room. The detector was on the ground floor.

195 Sun 30/09/01 15:53 Just as we were driving on to the station forecourt and about to speak to control over the radio to "close at home station" i.e., close down the radio and return to contact via the station alarm system, control called us up on the radio and sent us to: AFA Southampton General Hospital. a fault on the fire alarm system was to blame. Stop: A/C by elec fault on AFA system

194 Sun 30/09/01 15:05 RTA washdown, Hammonds Green. A car had lost control on a bend, and struck another car. No persons were trapped, but there was plenty of sump oil on the road, which needed hosing down. The batteries were also disconnected. Stop: SSCC.

This is not the first time we have been called to this address! Stop: FAGI.

185 Sat 15/09/01 09:53 Hazmat ( hazardous material ) incident, at a small chemical works, on the approaches to Totton. A safety device had operated, leading to a discharge of pressurized chemical from the plant. The brigade made sure no one was trapped and then stood by whilst the works team made the scene safe, providing safety for workers who needed to approach the incident. Within two hours the scene was judged to be safe enough for us to leave. Three pumps, the SEU ( who came with another pump as "out of are crew"), and a "hazmat" officer attended the incident. Stop: SSCC.

184 Wed 12/09/01 08:55 AFA at a health centre in central Totton. Stop: A/C by toast!

177 Sat 25/08/01 16:51 Car Fire, Rumbridge street, Totton. A small section of the wiring loom had caught fire, this had been doused with some water, and the battery disconnected by the time we arrived, so the fire was out. Stop; small fire passenger compartment OOA..

176 Tue 21/08/01 07:51 AFA at local sheltered flats complex. Stop: A/C by burnt.................wait for it................Toast. Occupant was still busy trying to eat the evidence when we arrived!

The car was extinguished, and the roof of the house checked for fire spread, from the inside and the outside, non found, just some melted guttering on the house in question. 174 Sat 18/08/01 16:22 Fence post on fire, in the fields to the rear of Nutwood Way (the same area as the shout below). one fence post well into the area. Back pack pump used to deal. Stop: small fire, knapsack pump.

173 Sat 18/08/01 05:55 Fire in the woods, near to Testwood Lakes. This is a well know patch of woodland to the rear of Calmore Industrial Estate. The address given was near to the Dairy on Salisbury Road, but it took a fair old walk along the footpaths there to reach the industrial estate, and find out fire. The fire was in fact a camp fire, near to a couple of abandoned tents. The fire was well alight, and consisted of a fair amount of good heavy wood. The whole area was quite dry, and in danger of fire spread, so we decided to deal with the fire. The problem was the considerable distance between the nearest place we could park the pump, and the fire. At this stage a second pump was called for, to augment the supply of hose we now carry on the pump. Stop: Bonfire, 1 jet.

172 Thu 16/08/01 01:15 Thatch cottage fire, Main Road, Marchwood. Somewhere in the region of five pumps, and an SEU were tipped out to this incident, the first person on the scene was an officer, with little or no fire fighting equipment on board, he confirmed we had an incident, and made pumps six. We arrived a couple of minutes later, to find a fairly small thatch roof, on a lovely old cottage well alight. The extent of the fire over the roof, told us that we were not going to be able to stop the thatch quickly or easily, so water was sprayed onto the roof, in the hope of slowing down the growth of the fire, salvage teams were sent into the building, to strip out furniture and belongings, and BA teams were sent to the roof, to start stripping off the thatch. Access to the roof was made easier by a felted shallow pitch roof on one side, and salvage of the furniture was assisted by having two large out buildings to store the removed kit. The fire had gained a good hold into the thatch, and it took some time to remove the roof, so the end result was, as most thatches go, that the roof was completely lost.

171 Mon 13/08/01 20:33 Smoke issuing from meter box on outside of property. On arrival, the meter panel was smoking. The occupant ( an electrician) had removed the SEB cut out fuse, we then proceeded to remove the chipboard back panel from the box, to deal with the item that was on fire. A loose connection to the electricity meter had heated up, and started the board smoldering. Stop: small fire meter cabinet, 1 dry powder extinguished, supply isolated, removal of meter and board. ( I have not been to many fires involving the electricity meter, but two of the ( approximately three ) have been on the same stretch of road! draw your own conclusions from that!)

170 Mon 13/08/01 15:17 Fire in a purpose built sheltered block of flats, ( which has in the past kept us very employed with false AFA alarms!) On arrival we were told that this appeared to be a pan on a stove. The elderly resident had put the pan on the stove, forgotten about it, and gone to sit with her friends in the garden! She then commented on all the smoke, and was wondering who was creating the smoke with a bonfire! The fire was out by time the brigade arrived! Stop: small fire pan on stove, OOA.

169 Fri 10/08/01 00:18 Car fire, Denbigh Gardens. The interia of an abandonned car had been ignited. The fire was lilited to the fabric of the drivers seat, howevber the smoke damage to the interior of the car was considerable. Stop; Car, interior SEV. 1HPHR 2 BA

168 Wed 08/08/01 17:07 Car on fire, St Michaels Road, Totton. The engine compartment was well alight, on arrival, following what looked like an electrical fault had triggered the fire. Stop: Car sev, 2 HPHR 2 BA.

167 Mon 06/08/01 16:41 Fire Public toilets, Testwood Rec (yet again!) A small quantity of toilet paper had been ignited! Stop: small fire, 1 bucket of water!

166 Sun 05/08/01 19:14 Woods Fire off Calmore Road, A small bonfire had been set by kids in the middle of a small wooded area. This was quite a way from the road, so we had to use some hose to extend a hose reel to fight the fire. Stop: Bonfire 1 HPHR.

165 Sun 05/08/01 11:14 Fire, at a private address on Rushington estate. A small fire involving a fridge in the kitchen. Stop: 2 BA 1 HPHR.

164 Sat 04/08/01 12:01 Petrol pump leaking petrol, at a local filling station. The call had been placed by the engineer called to the job, after it had been struck, and badly damaged by the slightly careless driving, of a pick up truck driver. A small quantity of petrol had spilled onto the forecourt but this had been sanded. We ensured that the electricity had been isolated, and that the petrol was all safe, and left them to it. ( A petrol pump has fitted a number of shut off devices, so that if the pump is damaged in any way, the petrol pipework is closed down to prevent leakage, and possible fire.) Stop: SSCC.

163 Sat 04/08/01 05:22 RTA trapped, Castle Malwood Hill, A31. An accident involving a single private car, which had somehow managed to fly over the barrier on the outside of the road, and ended up parked over a deep ditch on the ( wide) central reservation of the road. The occupants, which included, two adults, and three kids) where in the process of being helped from the badly damaged car. One of the adults was reasonably badly knocked about, and was removed from the car on a spine board, after removal of the front passenger door, to assist with the extraction. Following the rescue the car was made safe, and we left the scene, leaving the car to be recovered by a recovery truck. Stop: SSCC.

162 Thu 02/08/01 22:06 Fire in the woods, to the rear of the Vine Hotel. A reasonably sized bonfire, unattended, well alight. 1 tank of water used to damp down the fire. Police in attendance, but unable to trace the owner of the land. Stop: rubbish, 1 main jet.

161 Tue 31/07/01 20:41 AFA Southampton General Hospital A bonfire in the local area had caused staff in various parts of the hospital to smell smoke, and think the worst! Several calls came in, to various parts of the hospital. Several pumps were dispatched. Stop: FAGI A/C by smoke from external source.

Well into he woods, and area of bracken and undergrowth was well alight. Pumps were made three! The following pumps were asked to help run hose into the wooded area. 2 jets were used to bring the fire under control. After about an hour the fire was brought under control, and put out. We then had the task of making up about 20 lengths of hose, before we could book ourselves available. As soon as we had book ourselves available we were called to......

158 Mon 30/07/01 16:05 Bin on fire Testwood Recreation Ground. A bin had been ignited. Stop: rubbish, 1 HPHR.

157 Mon 30/07/01 15:05 Grass fire, Testwood Recreation Ground. A small bonfire had been lit, and was out on arrival, we damped it down to be sure! Stop: Grass fire OOA.

156 Sun 29/07/01 17:43 AFA at a private house, on Fletchwood Lane. It appears that the security alarm had been triggered, and for some reason we never got to the bottom of, the security company rang us, and not the police. Stop: A/C by burglar alarm.

155 Sun 29/07/01 16:01 Just as we were heaving a sigh of relief, the bells went down to:- Grass fire, Testwood Lakes. A very small area of grass and undergrowth on fire near to the workings at the new Testwood Lakes. The 24 hour guard had dealt with the fire using a kettle of water, and we just damped it down with a knapsack pump. Stop: Grass, 1 knapsack pump.

154 Sun 29/07/01 14:48 Stand by by Redbridge Hill fire station. No further calls. Returned to home station, and signed off at 16:01

153 Sun 29/07/01 13:58 Make pumps four M27 motorway, petrol tanker on fire, fire spreading to embankment. On arrival we found that it was the cab of the petrol tanker which was on fire, and had been almost dealt with by the first attending crews, but he fire was spreading up the embankment. Our first priority was to unload all of our water into the first pump at the scene, so they could continue fire fighting, and then most of the crew went off up the embankment with beaters, and a knapsack pump to deal with the fire up there. A water carrier then arrived, and we were able to fill up all the pumps. The fire in the cab unit of the tanker was now practically out, and the embankment was soon under control. The stop was sent, and after making up our gear, we again booked available. And were sent on to.... (154)

152 Sun 29/07/01 12:55 Fire, pumps five, building site off Cumbrian way. A row of about a dozen terraced houses, partially constructed ( timber construction) well alight. The added danger of scaffolding which had been weakened by the fire threatening to collapse. The fire was mostly fought from outside, to avoid the risk of injury from collapse. Almost an hour after we arrived the majority of the fire had been dealt with and several other incidents were making themselves felt, control wanted pumps to be made available from the incident to be used on further jobs, We were made available, and were sent on, by radio, to the next call.

151 Sun 29/07/01 12:37 Stand by Redbridge Hill Fire Station. A reasonable major blaze involving a row of timber frame houses under construction had demanded the attention of a least four pumps, and other jobs in the city meant that all of the city pumps were out. We went into Redbridge hill, and ten minutes later the job went to pumps five, and we were called in.

150 Sat 28/07/01 21:43 Rubbish bin on fire, Testwood Recreation Ground, Stop: rubbish 1 HPHR.

149 Sat 28/07/01 21:23 Bonfire under tree, in grounds of local secondary school. Stop: rubbish, 1 HPHR. Cause Doubtful.

148 Sat 28/07/01 04:38 investigate smoke in area, near Testwood Recreation Ground. On route to the incident we spotted a large plume of very dark smoke, and followed it to a local primary school, where we found part of the roof on fire. A ladder was put against the building, and two BA men went aloft to tackle the fire from the outside. It became apparent very quickly that the fire was outside of the building, spreading in, but as we managed to stop the fire, the damage to the inside of the building was limited. The cause of the fire was investigated, as it had seemed to start outside of the building, on the roof, and an access point was spotted onto the roof, at this point the fire was thought to be " not accidental" (draw your own conclusions from that!) Stop: fire, roof 1 HPHR, 1 Jet, 4 BA. A good stop by the first attending crew (Totton!)

147 Fri 27/07/01 20:50 Rubbish on fire, Calmore Ind Estate. A small pile of fly tipped rubbish, against the wall of a building, well alight. Stop: rubbish, 1 HPHR.

144 Mon 23/07/01 03:50 Boat on fire, Eling Quay. On arrival found a 20 foot fibre glass motor cruiser, just at the edge of the water well alight. The boat took quite a bit of water, and some time, being fibre glass, to put out, but we eventually managed it. Stop: Boat SEV. 1 HPHR 1 main Jet.

143 Sun 22/07/01 23:53 Fire, Type unknown, near to the Saxon Pub, Calmore Drive. On arrival found two police cars, and three police persons ( not allowed to say policemen in this PC age) guarding a small bonfire mostly made up of paper, with the smallest flame imaginable, in the middle of a concrete planter. A quick squirt with a HPHR was all that was needed to deal. Stop: rubbish.

142 Sun 22/07/01 16:11 Tree on fire, near to Broadlands Lakes. Caller was traveling on the Motorway. Broadlands lakes searched to no avail, eventually we found a plume of smoke near to junction 2, this was a bonfire. Stop: C/B.

141 Sun 22/07/01 00:20 Youths lighting fires, caller originally stated Eling Mill, but it turned out that the address was Lexby Road. As coincidences have it the address was next door to the house where I used to live! There was no signs of fire on arrival, and as the police had been called to the incident as well, we left them talking to some people who were camping in the back garden of the property. Stop: OOA.

140 Mon 16:07/01 05:38 Fire, at a permanent camp site for travelers. The smoke plume could be seen in he sky as we approached the scene. On arrival we found a temporary dwelling type building well alight, with fire already out through the roof. 2BA men were immediately deployed to deal with the fire but they had trouble advancing, due to the oppressive heat levels, and the debilitating smoke. Further jets were deployed from the outside of the property to put water into the job, and to deal with the fire spread into the trees, at the rear of the property. Stop: Single story dwelling SEV. 2 jets, 2 BA.

139 Sun 15/07/01 09:23 Make Pumps Four, at a now derelict pub, Calshot. Everyone want to be first at he scene of a fire, to get stuck in and "knock back" the fire, which is always the most dramatic part of the fire fighting, however, when fire fighters arrive at their station in response to a call, seeing a make up is proof that there is a "going job", and this will provide some decent fire fighting action. On this occasion a disused pub building had become vandalized, and eventually set alight. Four pumps, an SEU, and a water carrier were called to deal with this fire. The building became structurally unsafe during the fire. Two reasonable sized halls lost their roofs, and a considerable amount of damage was done to the rest of the building. The fire was quelled, and the building damped down, and made safe, as far as it was safe for us to do so.

138 Sat 14/07/01 18:08 reported fire in the cricket pavilion at Calmore Road Rec. heat from solar gain on the front face of the building gave the impression of a raging fire inside, but no other evidence. The other walls were stone cold, and there was no evidence of smoke or fumes from the knot holes etc. Stop: FAGI.

137 Sat 14/07/01 08:29 Motorbike on fire, behind a private address in Totton. A motorbike had presumably been stolen and parked on public land. The bike had been torched sometime in the small hours of the morning, and found by early risers, who called us. Very little of the bike was left by the time we arrived, and very little water was needed to damp down. Stop: Motor bike SEV. OOA.

136 Thu 12/07/01 10:30 Tree on fire near to Testwood Nature reserve. After some searching we located the tree, on fields, to the rear of Calmore Industrial estate. We have been to this tree before. An old oak, with the center of the trunk rotted out, gives an ideal chimney for kids to light a fire in the base. Unfortunately the trunk had burned through and has partially collapsed, leaving a very unsafe bough! The fire was some considerable distance away from the road, so a load of hose had to be run out to get to the fire. Stop: Tree, 1 HPHR.

135 Mon 09/07/01 19:10. Monday is our drill night, and on this particular Monday we were heading off to Southampton International Airport to do some live fire training on one of their fire simulators. As we were leaving Totton we were called up to attend an AFA at a private house in Upper Shirley. A small fire involving food on a grill pan was involved, and this was OOA.

The driver had already uncoupled the trailer, as it was the tractor unit which was on fire. A small fire had developed in the sound insulation near to the exhaust pipe. It was thought that a leaking exhaust has been jetting hot fumes onto the insulation, causing it to ignite. Stop: 1 HPHR.

130 Tue 03/07/01 00:09 Grass on fire Bury Road. A quantity of grass had been dumped in a lay-by, and then ignited. Stop: small fire grass 1 HPHR.

129 Sun 01/07/01 00:36 Whilst on the way back from Redbridge Hill, having replenished our air cylinders for the BA sets, we were called to RTA Washdown, outside of an address in Houndsdown. A car had driven off the road, narrowly avoiding two parked cars, had struck a concrete post, and had ended up on it's side, only just missing a third car. The occupant(s) of the car had left the scene. Police were in attendance, and had called us. The car was rolled back onto its wheels, and then made safe. Stop: SSCC.

128 Sat 30/06/01 23:32 Kitchen fire at an address in West Totton. A couple had just moved into a flat, and had bought a new electric cooker. They cooked some chips, but owing to a misunderstanding with the cooker controls, had left the chip pan switched on whilst they ate their supper. Some swift action on the part of the male occupant, with wet towels etc., saved a lot of further damage. Oxygen was given at the scene, for smoke inhalation. Stop: Small fire kitchen OOA 2 BA for ventilation.

A fire involving some electrical apparatus was quickly spreading to all the rest of the room. 1 HPHR was sufficient to deal with the fire. The rest of the first floor suffered from extensive smoke damage. The family had arrived home from an afternoon out, and smelled smoke, and went to investigate. One young man took a goodly amount of smoke, and was treated with oxygen at scene. The lesson to be learned from the job was that there was only one smoke detector which was at the base of the stairs. It had not operated, there was no battery fitted. Stop: fire first floor bedroom, sev. 4 BA 1 HPHR.

28 Fri 16/02/01 23:04 Car Fire outside of a private house. A man walking his dog had noticed smoke from the bonnet of a Mercedes car parked up. It was necessary to break into the car to open the bonnet to deal with the fire, which seemed to be a minor fire from the transmission tunnel. It proved very difficult and time consuming to get at the seat of the fire. During the incident the owner arrived back home and informed us that he had bought the car, from a second hand car dealer, that day! Fire traced to wiring loom, and with the battery disconnected, we had to ensure that nothing else had been ignited. A long job, owing to access problems. The car was removed from the scene by a car recovery vehicle.

Not a bad result! Six pumps, and something approaching a bit of a panic at the Hospital, for one fair sized bonfire, which took 1 HPHR to deal with!

23 Fri 09/02/01 21:21 AFA at the Southampton General Hospital. Two pumps dispatched, us and Eastleigh. The first question in our mind was where are Redbridge Hill, and St Marys, who would normally take these calls. On approach to the hospital it became apparent that they were already there! Further investigation showed that there were several separate alarms triggered in the hospital. Staff in separate areas had smelled smoke, and triggered the fire alarm. So where was all the smoke coming from? A quick survey of the outside area revealed a large smoke plume from the adjacent housing estate. Two or three pumps, including us, were dispatched to locate and deal with the fire

22 Thu08/02/01 20:50 Chimney fire, at a private house in Eling. A wood burner, burning green and wet wood, was the cause. The window was put through, and water jetted through the opening, to quench the flames whilst entry was made through the door. Once entry had been gained we found a reasonably small fire, involving some sort of vat, and very little else. The rest of the works got of almost unscathed! Stop: 1 jet 2 BA.

12 Thu 18/01/01 19:28 On arrival found another car well alight in the car park of a factory unit, the reflection of the fire in the window of the unit, made it look like the office of the factory was alight. Control were informed, and the second pump, and officer, sent out to deal with the factory fire were turned back. Another 2 BA, and 2 HPHR were used to deal with this fire. It is thought that a small group of youths were responsible for both blazes.

7 Sat 06/01/01 22:10 AFA at a large storage warehouse in Eling ( actually the same address we attended on New Years Morning ( what a way to celebrate the new year!)) The cause was thought to be the sprinkler system ( yet again!) though it had not operated on this occasion.

2 Tue 02/01/01 23:12 Car fire outside of a private house in Totton. A well know breakdown club ( who don't claim to be the forth emergency service) had attended a breakdown, whilst there they had reconnected some fuel lines. It appears that a fuel leak had been ignited by heat from the exhaust, or by a spark from the HT leads, setting fire to the engine compartment. Stop: Car fire, 2 HPHR, 2 BA. Car sev.
